For learning, not professional advice
The patterns, labs, practice questions, stories and reading list are educational. Examples are simplified on purpose and may leave out details that matter for your platform, scale, security or compliance needs. Some stories use fictional companies to illustrate a point, and they are marked as such. Nothing on the site is professional engineering, security, legal or financial advice.
Your decisions are your own
You are responsible for the designs you build and the decisions you make, including any based on this site. Before you rely on something here in a real system:
- check it against your platform's own documentation,
- test it in your own environment,
- get review from people who know your system where the stakes are high.
The design review
The rule checks on the design review page are simple heuristics, and the AI-assisted review is generated automatically. Both can be wrong, incomplete or out of date, and neither knows your system as well as you do. A review is a prompt for your own thinking, not an audit, certification or approval of a design.
Only submit designs you have the right to share, and leave out passwords, keys, personal data and anything confidential. The privacy policy explains what happens to a design you send.
Your designs
Designs you enter stay yours, and so does the review you get back: use it however you like. Sending a design gives us permission only to run the review for you.
Labs and simulations
The labs run simplified models so you can see how a pattern behaves. Their numbers show the shape of a problem. They are not benchmarks or predictions for a real system.
Fair use of the site
Please do not try to disrupt the site, get around the limits on design reviews, request reviews in bulk by automated means, or submit unlawful or abusive content. We may block access that does.
Copyright and our content
The text, labs, diagrams, questions and design of the site are © MicroservicePatterns.com, all rights reserved. You are welcome to:
- quote short passages with a link back to the page,
- use the short code examples in your own projects, commercial or not, without credit,

Please do not copy pages, labs or questions to another site, course or product, or republish them as your own, without asking first.
Links and other sites
Links to books, documentation and other sites are there to help you learn more. We do not control those sites, and their own terms apply there.
Trademarks and other people's work
Company, product and book names on the site belong to their owners. We use them only to describe and refer to those things, which does not mean the owners endorse MicroservicePatterns.com. Short quotations are credited to their source.
If you believe something on the site uses your work without permission, contact us with a link to the page and what it should credit or remove, and we will look into it promptly.
No warranty
The site is provided free and "as is". We work to keep it accurate and available, but we do not promise that it is complete, correct, current or always online.
Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, MicroservicePatterns.com and the people who run it are not liable for any loss or damage that comes from using the site or relying on its content, including outages, lost data, lost revenue or the cost of changing a system. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes
We may update these terms, and the date at the top changes when we do. If we add paid features, such as paid design reviews, they may come with additional terms that you will see before you pay.
